Super Soul Bros play Koji Kondo’s Underground, from Super Mario Bros (NES)

The Super Soul Bros turn Underground inside out. This is one of the most surreal tracks we’ve played. What other video game tunes would you like us to transform into abstract jazz?

Rainbow Road - Mario Kart 64

The Super Soul Bros take a trip down Kenta Nagata’s Rainbow Road. So much power and beauty behind this piece — It could be an anthem for almost every gamer from the 90’s.

Chemical Plant Zone - Sonic The Hedgehog 2

The Super Soul Bros arrange Masato Nakamura’s Chemical Plant Zone, into a wild 10 minute jazz fusion experience. The ending is like something out of a Pharaoh Sanders show — What a tune!

Editor’s Note

This is one of the most original sounds I’ve heard. The Super Soul Bros’ spectacular musicianship in jazz-fusion, funk and soul is made accessible for younger generations, by covering music from their favorite video games. I highly recommend buying this album, and supporting these guys in recording in a studio. Plus they’re a great group of guys!

Brian Sheu (guitar):

Who here has ever played Mario Kart 64? That was one of the first games I’ve ever owned, and this is first song you hear when you start your engines!! (definitely for those of you who like Soulive/Lettuce).
